Arcade game, beat'em up genre, released in 1996 and developed by SNK, Metal Slug was the first of a cult series of around ten official games, ported to arcade machines, consoles and PC.
The player is an elite soldier who infiltrates enemy lines to free fellow prisoners.
The success of the series comes mainly from the richness of the graphics / animations, the intensity of action and the many touches of humor making its hero particularly engaging.
