Angry Birds Epic swaps the slingshot for a very different kind of battlefield: turn-based RPG combat. This time, Red, Chuck, Matilda, and the others are thrown into a medieval world full of armor, potions, and magic, where the green pigs have once again found a way to go after the Angry Birds’ precious eggs.
Battles are turn-based, with a real choice to make on each move. You can target a pig to attack, or click on one of your birds to protect it with a defensive bubble. The red Rage Chili fills up during combat and lets you unleash a special attack at the right moment, often making the difference against tougher enemies.
Angry Birds Epic uses classic RPG mechanics without losing the humor of the series. Each bird has its own techniques, from melee attacks and magic to healing or protection, so building the right team before each fight matters. As the adventure progresses, your birds level up, collect new weapons, upgrade their gear, and become strong enough to take on increasingly tough pigs.
With its colorful medieval world, accessible but tactical battles, and well-paced progression, Angry Birds Epic is a very successful spin on Rovio’s franchise. The birds are still angry, the pigs are still thieves, but this time the war is won with swords, spells, and smart decisions.
