Stickmen need only a few simple lines to be instantly recognizable: a round head, a thin body, and arms and legs reduced to basic strokes. This minimalist look became one of the defining styles of browser games, especially during the golden age of Flash in the early 2000s. With very little visual detail, developers could focus on animation, movement, and above all on situations that were often completely absurd.

That is also what makes Stickman games so versatile: the style works with almost any genre. On GamesLOL, you can find fighting games such as Stickman Clash or Stickman Kombat 2D, where loose bodies and exaggerated animations make every battle especially entertaining. Platform game fans will certainly recognize the Vex series or Fancy Pants, whose first episode appeared in 2006 with its distinctive stick figure hero and colorful trousers.

Stickmen can also pick up a racket in Stick Figure Badminton, use all kinds of weapons in shooting games, or become the heroes of much more story-driven adventures. The Henry Stickmin series is probably the best example: in Escaping the Prison, Fleeing the Complex, and the other episodes, every choice can lead to a spectacular success or, much more often, a completely ridiculous failure accompanied by a hilarious animation.

Fighting, platforming, sports, shooting, adventure, or physics-based games: Stickman is not really a genre in itself, but rather a simple and instantly readable way to bring almost any gameplay idea to life. And behind those few black lines, you can sometimes find games that are surprisingly technical, inventive, and memorable.
